Maxon brushed motor description

DC motor with ironless winding at specAmotor

Maxon brushed motors have no magnetic cogging and have a high acceleration thanks to a low inertia. The relationship between voltage and speed, load and speed, and load and current are particular linear because of the ironless patented winding. Due to a multi-segmented commutator there is only a small torque ripple. There are multiple combination possibilities with gears as well as DC tachometers and encoder.

The maxon winding is the heart of the motor. Utilising this winding has a very specific advantages. There is no magnetic detent and minimal electromagnetic interference. The efficiency of up to 90% (no-load condition) exceeds that of other motor systems. There are numerous winding variants for each motor type (see motor data sheets in specAmotor database). They are differentiated by the wire diameter and number of turns. This results in various motor terminal resistances and torque constants. The wire sizes used are between 32 ?m and 0.45 mm, resulting in the different terminal resistances of the motors.

This influences the motor parameters that describe the transformation of electrical and mechanical energy (torque and speed constants). specAmotorallows you to select the motor that is best suited to your application. The maximum permissible winding temperature in high-temperature applications is 125oC (155oC in special cases), otherwise 85oC.

Maxon brushless motor description

Brushless motors have typically a higher livespan than brushed motors because the lack of sparks associated with brushed motors. The livespan for brushless motors is typically determined by the bearings. Maxon brushless motors can be driven with several types of commutation, namely block commutation, sensorless block commutation and sinusoidal commutation.
